RESUMO: A anta brasileira ( Tapirus terrestris ) é o segundo maior mamífero terrestre da América do Sul. É estritamente herbívora e sua exposição ao Toxoplasma gondii indica contaminação ambiental por oocistos. No presente estudo, 47 antas brasileiras mantidas ex-situ, em 10 instituições brasileiras e em uma paraguaia, tiveram amostras de soro avaliadas para a presença de anticorpos para T. gondii pelo Teste de Aglutinação Modificada (MAT ≥25). Dos 47 animais, 35 (74,5%) foram positivos, com títulos de 25 em 8, 50 em 6, 100 em 12, 200 em 5, 400 em 1 e 800 em 3 animais. Um animal teve amostras coletadas em duas ocasiões e, 19 nasceram em cativeiro.Não houve associação entre ocorrência de anticorpos para T. gondii e gênero e, animais positivos foram encontrados em todas as instituições. A alta ocorrência de antas soropositivas nascidas nas instituições (54,3%) confirma a alta exposição desses mamíferos para T. gondii em cativeiro. Apenas dois casos de aborto foram relatados, porém, não foi possível correlacioná-los à infecção pelo T. gondii.

ABSTRACT: Lowland Tapir ( Tapirus terrestris ) is the second largest South American land mammal. It is strictly herbivorous and its exposure to Toxoplasma gondii should be indicative of environmental contamination by oocysts.In the present study antibodies to T. gondii in 47 Brazilian tapirs maintained ex situ in 10 Brazilian and in one Paraguayan institution were sought in serum samples by the modified agglutination test (MAT ≥25). None of the animals presented clinical signs during the study. From 47 animals 35 (74.5%) were positive with titers of 25 in 8, 50 in 6, 100 in 12, 200 in 5, 400 in 1 and 800 in 3. One animal had samples collected on twice, and 19 were born in captivity. There was no association between occurrence of T. gondii antibodies and gender, and positive animals were reported in all institutions. The high occurrence of seropositive tapirs born ininstitutions (54.3%) confirmed the high exposure of these mammals to T. gondii in captivity. Only two cases ofabortion were reported, but it was not possible to correlate these abortions to T. gondii infection.

O Problema Quadrático de Alocação, PQA, foi estudado utilizando uma abordagem algébrica através de uma relaxação linear, o Problema de Alocação Linear, PAL. A utilização dessa abordagem se deve ao fato de existir na literatura o Teorema das Inversões demonstrado por Rangel em [Ran00] que associa o custo de uma solução do PQA ao número de inversões de sua correspondente linear no PAL. Embora seja polinomial o reconhecimento de uma solução linear viável para o PQA, caracterizar no conjunto de todas as soluções do PAL quais são as que satisfazem o PQA é uma tarefa extremamente difícil. Neste trabalho construímos uma matriz que armazena informações de soluções lineares capazes de gerar soluções quadráticas. Combinando esse mapeamento com o Teorema das Inversões apresentamos um método construtivo que gera soluções iniciais de boa qualidade. A grande vantagem dessa matriz é que seu custo computacional e gasto de memória são baixos. Propomos também uma versão paralela deste algoritmo.

The Quadratic Assignment Problem, QAP, was studied using an algebraic approach through a linear relaxation, the Linear Assignment Problem, LAP. The reason for this approach is the Inversion Theorem demonstrated by Rangel [Ran00]. In this theorem, the QAP solution cost is associated to the number of inversions of the linear correspondent. Although recognizing if a linear solution correspond to a QAP solution is polynomial, there are much more LAP solutions than QAP solutions, and therefore to find them is a hard work. We construct a matrix that stores information about LAP solutions that are able to generate QAP solutions. The Inversion Theorem in conjuction with this matrix permitted us to present a constructive method that generates good initial solutions. The great advantage of this matrix is the low computational cost of time and memory. A parallel version of this algorithm is proposed and implemented in this work.

O Problema Quadrático de Alocação, PQA, pode ser abordado através de uma relaxação na forma do Problema de Alocação Linear, PAL. Introduzimos um poset (conjunto parcialmente ordenado) no conjunto das soluções lineares que nos permite comparar também os custos das soluções do problema quadrático, sem o conhecimento prévio das matrizes que definem seus exemplares. Construímos um algoritmo polinomial capaz de determinar pares de permutações livremente comparáveis, conceito apresentado neste trabalho. Provamos um teorema que garante que os custos associados a tais permutações preservam a ordem dada pelo número de inversões das mesmas. Associando soluções do problema a permutações, testes empíricos são apresentados, visando a validação do número de inversões como um parâmetro de referência para a qualidade das soluções. Este trabalho é uma extensão do artigo [RA01] publicado nos anais do XXXIII SBPO, em CD-ROM, 1277-1287, Sobrapo, ILTC, 2001.

We present an approach to Quadratic Assignment Problem, QAP, via a linear relaxation, through the use of the Linear Assignment Problem, LAP. We define one ordering an LAP-solution-set that makes us compare QAP costs. From here, this poset, partial ordering set, considers coordinates of instances as free variables. We have managed to build a capable algorithm to determine freely comparable permutation pairs. A theorem shows that the order mentioned above is compatible to the one that involves inversion numbers of permutations. We can apply linear and quadratic solutions to permutations and empiric tests are presented to show that the inversion numbers can be used to measure the quality of QAP-solutions. This work is an extension of the article [RA01] published in electronic proceedings of SBPO XXXIII in CD-ROM, 1277-1287, Sobrapo, ILTC, 2001.

O Problema Quadrático de Alocação (PQA) pertence à classe dos problemas NP-hard. Apesar de muitos métodos heurísticos terem sido desenvolvidos visando a resolução de suas instâncias, ainda não é possível encontrar soluções ótimas para instâncias de ordem acima de 25- Uma versão do GRASP, desenvolvida por Li, Pardalos e Resende [LPR94], se mostrou bastante eficiente para o PQA, o que motivou os autores a elaborar uma proposta de modificação na sua busca local, na tentativa de diminuir o número de iterações necessário à obtenção da melhor solução conhecida.

The Quadratic Assignment Problem (QAP) is an NP-hard problem. Despite the continuous effort in the formulation of new heuristics, optimal solutions are not generally known yet, for instances of order n > 25. A GRASP-type heuristic developed by Li, Pardalos and Resende [LPR94] showed itself to be very efficient and this fact motivated the authors to propose a perfectioning in its local search reducing the number of iterations.
